Order of Alexander Nevsky #23829

Awarded to Guards Captain Evgeny Ivanovich Svintsitsky (Евгений Иванович Свинцицкий)

For destroying 2 cannons, 2 machinegun emplacements, 1 mortar, destroyed 2 pillboxes, and eliminating up to a platoon of enemy troops with his artillery battery. His smart positioning and camouflage of the cannons prevented losses and ensured a successful breakthrough for his unit

‘Deep dish’ variation with a relatively pronounced counter-relief of the red star

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 50.92 mm in height, 49.41 mm in width and weighs 38.2 grams without its screwplate. The serial number and the mint mark Monetni Dvor are located at the 6 o’clock position underneath the screw.

In good condition with most details on Nevsky’s head clearly visible and moderate overall wear. A small portion of the original gold plating on the poleaxes, sword, and arrows remains intact, though most is worn off. The enamels have no repairs or flaking and show some minor dings and contact marks only. The screwpost remains unshortened, and the order comes with its correct screwplate which fits well.

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

14 January 1945, in the offensive combat engagement during strong enemy defence breakthrough operation near the settlements Anielin and Pajakow, Guards Captain SVINTSITSKY’s artillery battery destroyed 2 cannons, 2 machinegun emplacements, 1 mortar, destroyed 2 pillboxes, and eliminated up to a platoon of enemy troops. Thanks to proper selection of deployment sites for his cannons, their efficient construction and exemplary camouflage, he saved his men and equipment from losses. This effort enabled the breakthrough and successful advance of the artillery battery and the supported rifle units.

He deserves state award order “SUVOROV III CLASS”. [Later downgraded to the Order of Alexander Nevsky]
