Soviet medal for the Capture of Vienna variation 4 (Voenkomat)
Medal for the Capture of Vienna: measures 32.18 mm in width, 37.03 mm in height (including the eyelet) and weighs 16.0 gram without its suspension.
This medal is in pristine condition with perfect details and almost all gold plating still present. It comes with a uncut connection ring and aluminium suspension.
This medal is one of the post-war issues that were awarded by a Voenkomat (Military Commissariat) at the veteran’s place of residence. The reasons for the late issue could vary but in most instances; the Voenkomat medals were “catch-up” awards to those who had taken part in the battle and then somehow overlooked by the awarding authorities during WW2 and in the immediate post-war years.
