Medal for the Capture of Budapest
Variation 1a without a raised rim on its reverse and old celluloid protection cover
Made of brass. It measures 32.12 mm in diameter, 37.59 mm in height including its eyelet and the medal weighs 16.0 grams without its suspension.
In problem free condition with its details crisp and relatively few dings and scratches. The raised areas like the bottom wreath show light wear only. The medal comes with its time period double layer steel suspension.
The owner clearly took pride in this medal and preserved it carefully. A celluloid cover was added to protect the ribbon, leaving it in good condition and fully original.
Awarded to Soviet service personnel who took part in the battle of Budapest between 20 December 1944 and 15 February 1945.
