Description
Soviet Medal for the 20th Anniversary of the RKKA. 1938
This XX RKKA medal is made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 32.17 mm in diameter, 2.78 mm in thickness at the very edge of the medal and 35.91 mm in height (including the eyelet). It weighs 23.3 gram.
This original 20th Anniversary of the RKKA medal is in excellent, well above average condition with all details present. Even the higher laying parts on its reverse show little wear. The soldier’s eyes, fingers and rifle for example, are all visible. The enamel shows some minor superficial dings and scratches but none penetrating the enamel. Its double layer steel suspension is is time period to the medal.
Next to the feet of the soldier the number ‘9303’ is engraved. It is my opinion this was done by the awardee after he changed the rectangular suspension for a 5 sided suspension due to new regulations. This number was probably on the old screwplate. It might therefor be interesting to research the number to get more information.
A superb piece. Scarce as such!
