Awarded to Guards Sergeant Efrem Ivanovich Ostrikov (Ефрем Иванович Остриков)
For engagements against the Germans in November 1942 during which he eliminated up to a platoon of enemy infantry
Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measurements; 37.17 mm in diameter and 3.01 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 41.71 mm (including the eyelet) and it weighs 30.5 gram without its suspension. The suspension measures 25.67 mm in width at its narrowest point and 31.87 at its widest point.
The medal for Bravery is in excellent condition with light wear relative to contemporary pieces. The details of the higher laying parts like the rivets on the side of the tank and the canons are all visible and much of the lacquer filling the letters is still present. All parts of the suspension are original and belong to the medal and its connection ring has not been cut.
Scarce to find with all original parts!
Brief description of his achievements:
“The gunner of a 120mm mortar sergeant OSTRIKOV Efrem Ivanovich is awarded for the engagements against the German invaders on 26th and 28th of November 1942, in which he acted boldly and calmly. He repaired the mortar in the field, then fired all the mines and placed them right on target eliminating up to a platoon of enemy infantry.”
