Medal for Bravery #18509

Awarded to Private Andreij Aleksandrovich Koshkalda (Андрей Александрович Кошкалда)

For bravery during the Award for Winter War with Finland

It appears Koshkalda perished during the war – there is missing person request form from his brother from 1947. The form has handwritten resolution at the end: “missed without trace January 1944”

Made of solid silver and enamels. The medal measures 37.16 mm in diameter and 3.08 mm in thickness. The height of the medal measures 41.77 mm (including the eyelet) and the medal weighs 30.2 grams without its suspension. The suspension measures 25.25 mm in width at its narrowest point and 31.16 mm at its widest point.

The medal is in excellent condition with its details perfectly visible and crisp. The enamels filling the lettering are fully present and original and both sides show relatively few dings and scratches. Its connection ring has not been cut and its mondvor screwplate is time period to the medal. Its suspension is authentic but the rectangular plate holding the ribbon is missing.

Rare piece in great condition
