Gavrilov Aleksandr Sergeevich is a foreman of the tractor brigade of the Atyashevskaya MTS of the Mordovian ASSR.
He was born on November 18, 1913 in the village of Butyrki (now the village of Vecherley, Atyashevsky District, Republic of Mordovia) into a family of farmers.
After receiving primary education, he began his career in 1925 on his farm.
After graduating from the village collective farm, he worked as a groom, and after completing a four-month course for tractor drivers, he worked as a tractor driver at the Atyashevskaya machine and tractor station (MTS) in 1932. In the mid-1930s, he brought the first combine harvester to the collective farm from Saratov and worked on it, and in 1936 he headed the tractor brigade.
During the Great Patriotic War, the brigade headed by A.S. Gavrilov worked hard to grow grain in the fields of the Lenin collective farm in the village of Batashovo. In the autumn of 1946, on his initiative, 40 hectares of marshy land were plowed up and sown with hemp.
In 1949, the A.S. Gavrilov brigade exceeded the tractor work plan by 124 percent, the output for each 15-horsepower tractor was 607 hectares with a plan of 500 hectares. The serviced collective farm “13 Years of October” received a yield of 7.5 centners of Central Russian hemp fiber and 9.3 centners of seeds per hectare on an area of 30.9 hectares.
