Awarded to Stefan Filippovich Bocharnik (Стефан Филиппович Бочарник)
Foreman of the tractor brigade of the Novo-Astrakhan MTS
Made of solid 23 carat gold. It measures 33.02 mm in height including the eyelet, 30.93 mm in width and weighs 16.3 gram without its suspension. The text Герой Социалистического Труда (Hero of Socialist Labor) is located at the center of the reverse. This early variation has the serial number with large numbers at the 12 o’clock position. The suspension is authentic to the medal and measures 25.93 mm in width at his widest point and 21.54 in height at its narrowest point. The minimum know serial number of this variation is 85 and the maximum is 961 so less then 900 specimens are awarded.
The star is in worn but decent condition with sharp edges of the hammer and sickle and medium overall wear. There are several dings and scratches on both sides but mostly noticeable on top. The letters on the reverse are perfectly visible as is the serial number. The suspension includes its time period rectangular plate and both the hexagon- and round screwplate. The connection ring between the suspension and the medal has not been cut and the screw is full length.

Short biography of Bocharnik:
tefan Fillipovich Bocharnik ( 1915 – date of death unknown) – foreman of the tractor brigade of the Novo-Astrakhan MTS, Novo-Astrakhan district, Voroshilovgrad region, Ukrainian SSR. Hero of Socialist Labor (1948).
In 1947, Stefan Bocharnik’s mechanized brigade received an average of 29.9 centners of wheat from each hectare on an area of 152 hectares. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 16, 1948 “for obtaining high yields of wheat, rye, corn and sugar beet, when the collective farm fulfills the obligatory deliveries and payment in kind for the work of the MTS in 1947 and the provision of seeds for grain crops for the spring sowing of 1948” was awarded the title Hero of Socialist Labor with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Hammer and Sickle gold medal .
