Made of solid silver. It measures 32.40 mm in diameter and 2.81 mm in thickness. The height of the medal is 37.47 mm including its eyelet and it weighs 21.9 gram without its suspension.
This original medal is in an excellent, above average condition with most details crisp. Both sides show several tiny dings and scratches and light overall wear. Its silver connection ring has not been cut and the brass suspension and ribbon are time period to the medal.
Increasingly difficult to find
The Medal “To a Partisan of the Patriotic War” (Russian: Медаль Партизану Отечественной войны) was a World War II Soviet award established in two classes. This was done on February 2, 1943, by decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. It recognised the courage of the partisans in their struggle to free the Soviet Motherland behind enemy lines. Its statute was amended by a further decree of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1947.
