Order of Glory 3rd class #450443 with a Medal for the Victory over Germany
Awarded to Sergeant Grigorii Semenovich Zhitnik (Григорий Семенович Житник)
For bravery and exemplary service as a foot reconnaissance scout. On 3 May 1945 he was the first to storm a bunker west of Jaktar near Tropau, killing one enemy soldier, later killing two more in fighting for Friedenstal, and on 4 May 1945 personally capturing three enemy prisoners while pursuing the retreating enemy
Since this set were Zhitnik’s only awards on the register card, it can be considered a complete grouping

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 45.35 mm in width, 48.02 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 22.3 grams. The serial number can be found on the top of its reverse.
In worn but decent condition with an appealing patina to the silver on both sides. The enamels are generally well preserved and without repairs but show a tiny chip on the star of the Spasskaya Tower and some superficial flaking on the lower banner. The raised areas show medium to strong wear and signs of polishing but most details are still visible. Its connection ring has not been cut.
Medal for the Victory over Germany
Made of brass. Measures 32.38 mm in width, 37.58 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 17.4 grams.
In great condition with relatively few dings and scratches and its details still visible. A fair amount of its original luster is still present.

While in the foot reconnaissance platoon, Private Zhitnik proved himself a bold and disciplined scout.
He honorably executed all his assigned tasks. On 3.5.45, the platoon was assigned the mission to block(?) a bunker west of the village of Jaktar, near Tropau. In this battle, Private Zhitnik distinguished himself by being the first to rush into the bunker and kill one Hitlerite. In fighting for Friedenstal, he killed another two Hitlerites.
While pursuing the enemy on 4.5.45, Private Zhitnik personally captured three Hitlerite prisoners.
For courage and bravery displayed in the execution of combat missions, Private Grigorii Semenovich Zhitnik is deserving of the Order of Glory III Class.
