Medal for the Salvation of the Drowning
Made out of gilded brass. It measures 32.12 mm in diameter, 37.12 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 16.0 grams without its suspension.
The medal is in near mint condition with all details perfectly crisp and all of the original gold plating still present. It shows no dings and scratches and even the raised areas show virtually no wear. Its suspension and ribbon are time period to the medal.
Awarded to any person (of any nationality) for courage; bravery and selflessness whilst rescuing a person/people from water. Also awarded for outstanding resourcefulness preventing drowning or for excellence in organizing of rescue operations in Soviet waters or of Soviet citizens.
