Medal for the Defense of the Caucasus
Variation 1 with a separately soldered eyelet
Made of gold plated brass. The medal measures 32.07 mm in diameter, 37.17 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 17.3 grams without its suspension.
This medal is in excellent condition with light overall wear and much gold plating present. There are several small dings and scratches on either sides but most details are still crisp. The double layer steel suspension is typical for these early Caucasus medals and shows the NKMP stamp of the “People’s Commissariat of Local Industry”.
Awarded to all Soviet military and civilians who participated in the defense of the Caucasus region during WW2 between July 1942 and 9 October 1943.
