Medal for the Defense of Stalingrad variation 1

Scarce gold plated variation 

Made of brass. Measures 32.15 mm in width, 36.93 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 16.2 grams without its suspension. 

In nice condition with light wear to the raised areas and much of the original gold plating (not luster!) present. Its reverse shows some scratches, possibly the result of gold testing. Its connection ring has been cut and the early double layer suspension is time period to the medal.

Awarded to all Soviet military and civilians who participated in the defense of Stalingrad between July and November 1942.
