Medal for the Defense of Leningrad
Variation 1a with a ‘Short Horizon’
Made of brass. Measures 32.0 mm in width, 37.4 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 15.4 grams without its suspension.
In excellent, well above average, condition with some of the original luster still present. The medal shows several -although relatively few- dings and scratches and most details are still visible and crisp. The suspension is original and typical for a Defense of Leningrad medal and its connection ring has not been cut.
This is the earliest version of the medal
Awarded to all Soviet military and civilians who participated in the defense of Leningrad between September 1941 and January 1944.
