Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:

Private SAVISAAR Kalju son of Erno was a part of the reconnaissance squad led by the Sr.Sgt. KHAKI on 22 September 1944.

The reconnaissance squad pursued the retreating enemy along the advance route of the 7 Estonian rifle division. In the vicinity of the village Nõmme, the recon squad was subjected to enemy machine-gun fire.

Private SAVISAAR acted bravely and resourcefully during this enemy liquidation operation and was leading the other men by personnel example. The enemy resistance was overpowered: 4 enemy soldiers were taken prisoner, 2 killed, enemy unit headquarters wagon train was captured.

The captured prisoners gave valuable intelligence on the enemy force stationed in the area (up to a battalion).

Private SAVISAAR is disciplined and politically educated. He is recommended for a state award – medal “FOR BRAVERY”.
