Vdovin was one of the last persons awarded the 1st class of this order only 4 days (!) before the Soviet Union collapsed end december 1991.

Order of Labor Glory 1st class #0972 (highest known number is 0976!)

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 40.84 mm in width, 47.22 mm in height and weighs 35.3 grams without its suspension.

Superbly preserved, with crisp details and complete gold plating. Just a few small dings on both sides, and the enamel remains flawless – no chips, flaking, or scratches. No signs of repair; the original rivets are secure and unaltered. Its connecting ring has not been cut and the piece features a rich, appealing patina.

 

Order of Labor Glory 2nd class #6798 

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 40.70 mm in width, 47.15 mm in height and weighs 35.5 grams without its suspension.

In similar condition as the first class, with sharp details and all gold plating intact. A few tiny dings are present on the reverse, and the enamel remains completely free of chips or flaking. The connecting ring is uncut, and the order is covered with an attractive dark patina.

 

Order of Labor Glory 3rd class #309828 

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 40.97 mm in width, 46.85 mm in height and weighs 35.2 gram without its suspension.

Also very well preserved, with clear details and full gold plating. Only minimal signs of wear, and the enamel shows no issues. The connecting ring is intact, and the piece has developed a pleasing dark patina.

 

Short biography of Vyacheslav Ivanovich Vdovin – toolmaker of the Gorky Television Plant.

Born on April 14th, 1938 in Kudma of the Bogorodsky district of the Gorky region (now Nizhny Novgorod) in the family of a railroad worker.
In 1955 he graduated from high school and the following year at Technical School No. 2 at the Gorkiy V. Lenin Television Factory after which he went there to work as a mechanic.

After serving in the army in 1965, Vdovin returned to the factory and continued to work in the tool shop.
In 1976, without a break from production, he graduated from a three-year master school and worked as a master engineer for a year.
In 1977, Vyacheslav Ivanovich returned to his previous job of testing and debugging molds in plastic and foundry shops.

For many years of conscientious work in one enterprise and increasing production efficiency, Vdovin Vyacheslav Ivanovich was awarded the Order of Labor Glory of the 3rd class by Decrees of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 29th, 1976.

On March 10th 1981 he was awarded the 2nd class for great services in fulfilling the tasks of the Tenth Five-Year Plan and socialist obligations.

The President of the USSR awarded the Order of Labor Glory 1st class on December 21st, 1991, to Vyacheslav Ivanovich Vdovin for his great personal contribution to the development and production of consumer goods and thus becoming a full cavalier of the Order of Labor Glory.

Vyacheslav Ivanovich worked for more than half a century in his own factory and in 2007 he left for a well-deserved rest, he currently lives in the city of Nizhny Novgorod.”
