Group of Soviet Medals mounted on an old steel suspension
Awarded to Sergeant Major Nikita Kirillovich Koba (Никита Кириллович Коба)
For diligent and tireless work as senior aviation mechanic in the 191st Guards Aviation Regiment, keeping aircraft in constant combat readiness with no technical failures or delays. From July 14 to August 20, 1944, ensured 35 successful combat flights, quickly and expertly repairing all damages
The group consists of the following items:
Medal for Bravery #1586881
Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measures 42.52 mm in height including its eyelet, 37.29 mm in width and weighs 26.3 grams.
The medal is in a nice, above average condition with crisp details and light overall wear. Much of the original red lacquer is still present and its connection ring has not been cut.
Medal for Combat Merit #337207
Made of solid silver. Measures 32.16 mm in diameter, 37.58 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 17.9 grams.
This piece was originally awarded on a rectangular suspension which was replaced by a pentagon shaped one according to new 1943 regulations on wearing Soviet awards. Its in good condition with most details visible and medium wear to the raised areas. Both sides show a nice patina to the silver and its connection ring has not been cut.
Medal for the Victory over Germany with document
Variation 1b with a separately soldiered eyelet and the word ‘войне’ on its reverse further apart from the curved text ‘Германией’. Made of brass. Measures 37.19 mm in height including its eyelet, 32.02 mm in width and weighs 17.0 grams.
In decent condition with medium to strong wear. Both sides show several dings and scratches but a fair amount of detail is still visible. Its accompanying document is in used but complete condition and is dated 22 September 1945
Medal for the Capture of Berlin with document
Variation 1 with a separately soldiered eyelet. Made of brass. Measures 37.11 mm in height including its eyelet, 32.11 mm in width and weighs 17.6 grams.
In nice condition with most details visible and crisp and some of the original gold-like luster still present. Its document is in used condition with the two pages reattached to each other. It is dated 31 December 1945.
Medal for the Liberation of Warsaw with document
Variation 2 with a u-shaped eyelet struck as part of the medal. Made of brass. Measures 36.64 mm in height including its eyelet, 32.06 mm in width and weighs 16.9 grams.
In excellent condition with few contact marks and much luster present. Its document is in problem free condition and dated 20 February 1946.
Jubilee Medal 30 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR with document
Made of brass. Measures 37.14 mm in height including its eyelet, 32.07 mm in width and weighs 17.6 grams without its suspension.
In excellent condition with full luster and light wear only. It comes with a late Soviet aluminium suspension. Its accompanying document is in good, problem free condition and is dated 1 September 1948.
Short translation of the citation for the Medal for Bravery #1586881
Senior aviation mechanic of 191 Separate Guard’s Aviation Prikarpatya Communication regiment – guard’s senior sergeant KOBA Nikita Kirillovich for that he by his diligent labor, without rest kept planes in constant combat readiness. Plane serviced by KOBA has no single case of breakings or delay on flight on combat task due to fault of technical staff.
From July 14 to August 20, 1944 KOBA’S plane performed 35 flights. All plane damages KOBA repaired quickly and with excellent quality. Personally disciplined, demanding, all tasks performed timely and clearly. In work active and hardworking, showed bravery and courage.
