Group of a Soviet Order of Glory and a Medal for Bravery
Awarded to Sergeant Vasily Danilovich Bardak (Василий Данилович Бардак)
For street fighting in the town of Brandenburg and eliminating at least 13 enemy troops by means of his personal submachine-gun
This complete group consist of the following items:
Order of Glory 3rd class #375879
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.77 mm in width, 48.32 mm in height and weighs 23.5 gram. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.
This order is in excellent, well above average condition with medium wear on the higher laying parts but many details still present. The enamel is beautiful and only shows some microscopic dings and scratches. The order has a medium dark patina on both sides and its connection ring has not been cut.
Medal for Bravery #1750440
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 37.36 mm in diameter, 42.45 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 28.0 gram.
The medals is in a nice, worn condition with all details present. The red lacquer is mostly lost and the medal shows a medium patina on both sides. Its connection ring has not been cut and the double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal.
Medal for the Defense of Moscow
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 32.31 mm in diameter, 37.45 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 16.7 gram.
The medals is in excellent condition with most details visible and much gold plating still present. Its connection ring has not been cut.
Medal for the Capture of Berlin
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 32.20 mm in diameter, 37,16 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 17.4 gram.
In excellent condition with all details crisp and much gold plating still present. Its connection ring has been cut.
Medal for the Victory over Germany
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 32.17 mm in diameter, 37.51 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 16.8 gram.

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements for the Order of Glory 3rd class:
“Artilleryman BARDAK exhibited courage and bravery in the fight against the German invaders.
In the engagement for the village Kleinwulkow, the artillery squadron provided fire support to the attacking rifle units. From an open sight position, comrade BARDAK’s gun crew suppressed 3 enemy machine-gun emplacements and eliminated up to 20 enemy troops.
In the street fighting in the town Brandenburg, he eliminated 7 enemy troops by means of his personal submachine-gun.
He deserves state award – order “Glory III class”. ”
Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements for the Medal for Bravery:
“In the offensive operations, jr. sergeant BARDAK proved himself as a resourceful soldier capable of resolving any situation. In the engagement for the settlement Smedyn, he towed the gun to an open sights firing position under hurricane of enemy fire, and together with the gun crew delivered fire at the enemy, destroying 3 enemy firing positions.
On 29 July 1944, comrade BARDAK was towing the gun and transporting its crew, when they came under an attack from a group of the German troops. Comrade BARDAK managed skilfully to evade and save both the truck and the gun. In the following engagements, jr. sergeant BARDAK eliminated 6 enemy troops by the fire of his personal firearm.
He is experiences and efficient. His truck is always in operational condition. He deserves state award – order “RED STAR”.”
