Group of a Soviet Order of Glory and a Medal for Bravery

 

Awarded to Private Ivan Yakovlevich Nechaev (Иван Яковлевич Нечаев)

 

For being the first to rush into enemy trenches and killing 2 Germans in the process. Nechaev was wounded twice

 

 

 

The group consist of the following items:

 

Order of Glory #163114

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 46.81 mm in width, 48.92 mm in height and weighs 20.3 gram. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.

This order is in excellent, well above average condition with medium wear on the higher laying parts but many details still present. The enamel is beautiful and only shows a minor superficial chip on the left side of the first ‘A’. The order shows a medium dark patina on both sides and its connection ring has not been cut. The awards are mounted on an old steel suspension.

 

Medal for Bravery #1463004

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 37.21 mm in diameter, 42.48 mm in height (including its eyelet) and weighs 27.6 gram.

The medals is in a nice, worn condition with all details present. The red lacquer is all lost and the medal shows a medium patina on both sides. Its connection ring has not been cut and the ribbon is time period to the medal.

 

 

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements (for the Order of Glory 3rd class):

“Comrade NECHAEV participated in many engagements against the German invaders, in which he proved himself a courageous, decisive, and reliable soldier.

In combat, comrade NACHAEV inspires the other men by personnel example towards the combat objectives and for combat feats.

Comrade NECHAEV sustained two wounds while defending the Soviet Motherland.

Comrade NECHAEV exceptionally distinguished himself in the engagement on 21 April 1945. By his personal example, he raised his squad mates into assault and was the first to rush into the enemy trenches, killing 2 Germans. The squad took full control of the trenches and fortified. After that, they repelled two enemy counterattacks.

For courage and decisiveness in battle, comrade NECHAEV deserves state award – order “Glory III class”.”
