Variation made in East-Germany
Made out of brass and enamels. Measures 36.61 mm in width, 46.27 mm in height and weighs 15.5 grams without its screwplate.
This Excellent Tank Driver badge is in near mint condition with crisp details and full gold plating. Even the higher laying parts show minor wear only. Its screw has not been shortened and the badge comes with its original and well fitted screwplate.
This version features round dots rather than usual stars forming a pattern under the red enamel in the center and bigger lettering. Its screwplate has no markings which is typical for these German made pieces. This variation is rated “exceptionally rare” (rarity rating 5) in the Breast Badges of the Red Army, 1941-1945 by B. Airapetyan. It is believed to have been made under contract in a Soviet- occupied part of Germany immediately after the war.
