Documented Medal for Combat Merit #263553

 

Awarded to Lt. Filimon Ivanovich Samoilenko (Филимон Иванович Самойленко)

 

For quickly restoring breaks in communication lines during a massive enemy air raid; despite being wounded during shelling, he fully repaired the line, ensuring uninterrupted control of the unit’s fire

 

 

Made of solid silver. The medal itself measures 32.07 mm in diameter and 36.88 mm in height including the eyelet. It weighs 17.2 grams without its suspension and 23.4 grams with the suspension but without the nut. The eyelet is 5.47 mm in width and the suspension measures 25.00 mm in width at its narrowest point and 31.85 at its widest point.

 

The medal is in decent and complete condition with several small dings and scratches and medium to strong wear to the raised areas. About half of the red lacquer filling the letters ‘CCCP’ is still present. The silver suspension is original as is the brass screw, the nut, the plate holding the ribbon and the screw plate tightening it all up. Its connection ring has not been cut.

 

Its accompanying booklet is in problem free condition with all pages present and securely attached to the cover. The booklet mentions another Medal for Combat Merit and two Red Stars which are not present in this lot.
