Documented Group of two Orders of the Red Star and a Medal for Combat Merit

 

Awarded to Ivan Pavlovich Nazarov (Иван Павлович Назаров)

 

 

The group consists of the following items:

 

Order of the Red Star #1698904

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.23 mm in width; 46.38 mm in height and weighs 31.7 gram. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.

The order is in excellent condition with problem free enamels. The higher laying parts on its obverse show light wear and many details are still visible. The screwplate is time period to the order and the screw has not been shortened.

 

Order of the Red Star #3299099

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 47.71 mm in width; 45.76 mm in height and weighs 30.8 gram. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.

The order is in pristine condition with flawless enamels. The higher laying parts on its obverse show virtually no wear and all details are crisp. The screwplate is time period to the order and the screw has not been shortened.

 

Medal for Combat Merit

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 32.08 mm in diameter; 37.32 mm in height and weighs 18.7 gram without its suspension.

The medal is in excellent condition with problem free enamels and crisp details. Both sides show an attractive dark patina and its connection ring has not been cut. Its brass suspension is time period to the medal as is its ribbon.

 

Three award documents 

The group is accompenied by an order booklet mentioning both Red Stars, a medal booklet mentioning the Medal for Combat Merit and a temporary award certificated stating the following:

“By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR 30 January 1951
For the length of service in the troops and bodies of the MBA, you were awarded the medal “For Military Merit”.
Congratulations and wish you continued success in your work.

CHIEF HEAD51 DIVISIONS KV MVD – Lt. Col.”

 

 

Due to the relatively common name there are several persons who could have been awarded a Red Star as can be seen here. Further research can show which person received these awards and what for.
