Documented Group of two Medals for Combat Merit

 

Awarded to Private Grigory Timofeevich Zubahin (Григорий Тимофеевич Зубахин)

 

For exemplary and reliable support of frontline aviation units and for sustaining combat wounds

 

 

 

The group consists of the following items:

 

Medal for Combat Merit #2218717

Made of silver and red lacquer. Measures 32.03 mm in width, 36.78 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 17.9 gram without suspension. 

This medal is in a good, above average condition with all details still crisp and over half of the original red lacquer present. Both sides show several dings and small scratches a medium dark patina. Its connection ring has been cut and its double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal.

 

Medal for Combat Merit #3099951

Made of silver and red lacquer. Measures 32.07 mm in width, 37.62 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 18.7 gram without suspension. 

This medal is in excellent condition with crisp details and all red lacquer present. There are relatively few dings and small scratches and both sides show a nice even patina. Its connection ring has not been cut and its double layer steel suspension is time period to the medal.

In great condition with all pages firmly attached to the cover. It mentions the two medals above only.

 

 


Citation MCM #2218717

Since January 1944, comrade Zubakhin, serving as a driver of the 1030th BAO, has been honestly and conscientiously fulfilling the task of supplying the 45th Airfield Service Battalion with materials. He delivered cargo on time and without losses under difficult road conditions. He is deserving of government recognition — the Medal “For Combat Merit.”

 


Citation MCM #3099951

Since January 1944, Comrade Zubakhin is a storekeeper at the fuel and lubricants warehouse. He has always worked honestly and conscientiously to provide the 45th IAP with fuel and lubricants, he is disciplined and politically developed. He enjoys authority

It certifies that Red Army soldier Zubakhin Grigory Timofeevich (Зубахин Григорий Тимофеевич)
was severely wounded in battles “for the Socialist Motherland.”

His injuries:

Traumatic amputation of the second finger of the right hand.

Shrapnel wound of the soft tissues of the left lower leg.

Signed by:

Senior doctor of the 1030 BAO, Major of Medical Service Minin

Authenticity confirmed by the battalion staff chief (signature + stamp).

Final certification date: 17 September 1945.
