Documented Group of Soviet Awards

Николай Никитович Лейфура

Awarded to Guards Sergeant Nikolai Nikitovich Leifura (Николай Никитович Лейфура)

For bravely driving his armored vehicle in combat during the Battle of Kalkhin-Gol. On July 2nd, he was wounded. The vehicle was hit but he was able to repair it under enemy fire and get the vehicle back into action. Later, in Dresden, he personally annihilated up to 20 enemy soldiers and officers and restored 7 disabled tanks and 2 wheeled vehicles on the battlefield

This group of Soviet awards consists of the following items:

Order of the Red Banner mirror reverse #4013

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 39.73 mm in height, 36.02 mm in width and weighs 23.3 grams without its screwplate. Its serial number is stamped at the bottom of its reverse.

This original order is in worn condition with partial enamel loss. Still over 70% of the red enamels is present and the white enamels are flawless. The raised parts like the center wreath and top of the torch show strong wear but most other parts have their details well preserved. Its reverse is in great condition with crisp details and relatively few dings and scratches. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with its original screwplate.

At some point the original serial number which started with ’37’ was removed and the new serial number ‘4013’ was stamped over it. This was done officially by the soviet mint and a result of turbulent times when awards were often ‘reused’ after confiscated from the previous owner.

Order of the Red Star #1789858

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 46.29 mm in height, 48.09 mm in width and weighs 30.6 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.

In nice condition without repairs. The enamels are well preserved with some small dings and scratches. The higher laying parts on its obverse show light to medium wear with most details still visible. The screwplate is time period to the order and its screw has not been shortened.

Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #861045 1985 edition with document

Made of gold plated silver and enamels. Measures 46.24 mm in height, 44.53 mm in width and weighs 28.1 grams without its screwplate.

In superb condition with full gold plating and pristine enamels. The order comes with its time period screwplate and its screw has not been shortened.

Medal for the Defense of Moscow variation 1 with document

Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.34 mm in diameter and weighs 17.3 grams.

This medal is in excellent condition with most details perfectly visible. There are few dings and small scratches only and a fair amount of the gold plating is still present. Its connection ring has not been cut.

The medal comes with its booklet in poor condition dated ’8-10-1944′ and is numbered Ц 004338

Medal for the Victory over Germany variation 1 with document

Made of gilded brass. Measures 32.33 mm in diameter and weighs 17.3 grams.

Badge to an Internationalist Warrior with booklet

In great condition with all parts original. Its accompanying booklet and cover are in equally nice condition.

Order Booklet

In vintage condition with a lot of ‘wear’. However, all pages are still present and the text is still perfectly readable. It is numbered 045574 which matches the number in the record card. Next to the Order of the Red Banner and the Red Star two medals for bravery are mentioned, which unfortunately, are not present in this lot.
