Complete Documented Group of an Order of the Red Star and Glory 3rd class

 

Awarded to the Armenian Sergeant Alibek (Albert) Gevorkovych Mnatsakanian (Алибак/Алберт Геноркович Мнацаканян)

 

For successfully repelling enemy counterattacks while eliminating a surrounded enemy force. Personally, he killed eight German soldiers and officers with a submachine gun, knocked out a motorcycle, and killed its rider

 

 

Order of the Red Star #1719586

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.11 mm in width, 45.80 mm in height and weighs 29.6 grams without its screwplate.

The order is in decent condition with loss of enamel on the 5 o’clock ray of the star. This appears to have taken place a long time ago judging by its patina. The other rays are problem free without chipping, flaking or repairs. The raised areas on its obverse show light to medium wear and many details are still visible. The well fitted screwplate is time period to the order and its screw has not been shortened.

 

Order of Glory 3rd class #647084

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 45.84 mm in width, 48.25 mm in height and weighs 17.0 grams without its suspenion.

The order is in great condition with well preserved enamels; no loss or repairs. The raised areas on its obverse like the wreath and Spasskaya tower show almost no wear and its details remain crisp. Its double layer suspension is time period to the order and its connection ring has not been cut.

 

Order Booklet

The group is accompanied by an order booklet mentioning both awards above only. The booklet is in decent condition with all pages present and still attached to its cover.

 

Order of the Patriotic War 1st class #1955526 (1985 jubilee edition) with booklet

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 44.45 mm in width, 46.23 mm in height and weighs 26.8 grams without its screwplate.

The order is in excellent condition with well preserved enamels and much of the gold plating still present. The order is accompanied with its document which shows the matching number.

 

Campaign Medals for Caucasus, Berlin, Warsaw and the Victory over Germany

Translation of the citation for the Red Star:

In battles by wiping out surrounded grouping on the 20th January 1945 in region “Kolonka Scherbatska” he and his section held counter attacks of the enemy. He personally wiped out 8 German soldiers and officers by sub machine gun. He knocked out a motor cycle and killed a motor cyclist.

For brave actions in battles he deserves the state reward Order Red Star

 

Translation of the citation for the Order of Glory 3rd class:

In battles by widening of the bridgehead on the west bank of the river Oder on the 17th of February 1945 his section was one of the first who took across the river Oder and consolidated their hold on the bridgehead.

During the reflection of counter attacks he personally wiped out 18 enemy soldiers and officers by machine gun.

Sergeant Mnatsakanian deserves the state reward of the Order of Glory III
