Complete Group of an Order of the Red Star and two Medals for Bravery

Awarded to NKVD Corporal Viktor Alekseevich Blinov (Виктор Алексеевич Блинов)

For detaining six enemy agents, two enemy collaborators, and one deserter. In combat on April 20, 1945, near Waldbach [Austria], he played a key role in repelling an enemy group by delivering sustained machine gun fire, enabling the unit’s advance. He destroyed a concealed enemy machine gun bunker and, despite a nearby mine explosion, continued fighting from a new position

The group consists of the following items:

Order of the Red Star #874567

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.65 mm in width, 47.52 mm in height and weighs 30.6 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.

The order is in nice condition with medium wear on its center medallion. The enamels are well preserved without repairs and show some small contact marks only. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with a well fitted screwplate.

Medal for Bravery #1595208

Made of solid silver and red lacquer. Measures 37.29 mm in width, 42.09 mm in height and weighs 27.8 grams without its suspension.

The medal is in above average condition with medium wear to the raised areas like the tank. Much of the original red lacquer filling the letters is still present and both sides show an appealing medium dark patina to the silver. Its connection ring has not been cut and the medal comes with a late Soviet suspension.

Medal for Bravery #2417951

Made of solid silver and red lacquer. it measures 37.35 mm in width and 43.10 mm in height (including the eyelet) and weighs 28.6 grams without its suspension.

In similar condition as the previous Medal for Bravery but most details visible and much of the original red lacquer present. It too comes with uncut connection ring and late Soviet suspension.

Unlike most Bravery Medals, the eyelet of this medal has been screwed into the medal and not just soldered on top of it. The known ranges for this sub-variation are 1926271-1956637, 2407144-2539625 and 3010239-3212405. Please note that even though all screw-in variations fall in these ranges, most of the medals in these ranges have their eyelet attached the regular way. Some pictures of an example of such a screw-in construction can be viewed in the picture gallery.
