Complete Group of a Soviet Order of the Red Star, Bravery Medal and a Medal for Combat Merit
Awarded to Master Sergeant Ivan Ivanovich Bezotosny (Иван Иванович Безотосный)
For streetfighting in Grosswilfersdorf (Austria) where he eliminated 4 enemy soldiers and 1 officer by the fire of his personal firearm and taking 6 enemy soldiers prisoner
The group consists of the following items:
Order of the Red Star #1940324
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.25 mm in width, 46.75 mm in height and weighs 30.8 gram without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.
The order is in excellent condition with light wear on its center medallion. The enamels are problem free without repairs and small contact marks only. The screw has not been shortened and there have been no repairs. The order comes time period but bent screwplate. It fits without issues but because it is bent is does not turn as smoothly as usual.
Medal for Bravery #980779
Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measures 37.14 mm in width, 42.02 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 26.6 gram without its suspension.
The medal is in nice condition with light wear on the higher laying parts like the tank. Most details are still visible and crisp but the lacquer filling the lettering has been replaced. The medal is attached to a time period steel suspension by an original uncut connection ring.
Medal for Combat Merit #116234
Made of solid silver and lacquer. Measures 32.07 mm in diameter, 36.50 mm in height and weighs 23.2 gram.
The medal is in decent condition with medium wear on the higher laying parts like the sword and rifle. A fair amount of details however are still visible and most of the original red lacquer is still present. Although the medal itself is fully original, the suspension of the medal is a replacement for display purposes only. On request we can replace it with an original late war pentagon suspension.
Translation of the citation for the Order of the Red Star:
“Under enemy artillery and mortar fire during the engagement on 08 May 1945 near the village Grosswilfersdorf, he managed to seize fully operational “Studebaker” and “ZIS” trucks, which were abandoned by the enemy during their retreat. On the streets of Grosswilfersdorf, he eliminated 4 enemy soldiers and 1 officer by the fire of his personal firearm. He took 6 enemy soldiers as prisoner.
For exhibited courage and bravery, comrade BEZOTOSNY deserves state award order “RED STAR”.”
