Complete documented group of two (!) Order of Glory and 3rd class

 

Awarded to Tatar Sergeant Shaidulla Khamidulin (Шайдула Хамидулин)

 

For successfully infiltrating behind enemy lines during a night reconnaissance mission, killing two Germans in close combat, then two more soldiers and an officer in hand-to-hand fighting, and destroyed 20–30 troops with machine-gun fire. In a separate action near Schilling, he eliminated 14 enemy soldiers and captured two prisoners during a counterattack

The group consist of the following items:

 

Order of Glory 3rd class #259215

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 47.12 mm in width, 49.24 mm in height and weighs 23.8 grams without its suspension. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.

This order is in decent, about average condition with medium to strong wear to the raised areas like the Spasskaya tower. The enamels are fully present without repairs but show some dings and superficial flaking. The order shows an appealing dark patina to the silver on both sides and it comes with its time period suspension. The connection ring has been repaired/re-soldered.

 

Order of Glory 3rd class #345254

Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 47.94 mm in width, 49.09 mm in height and weighs 22.5 grams without its suspension. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.

In similar condition as the previous Order of Glory with medium to strong wear to the raised areas and a dark patina to the silver. The enamels are also fully present with several dings and scratches. Its connection ring has been cut and the order comes with its correct double layer suspension.

 

Order Booklet

The awards come with their booklet in excellent condition with all pages firmly attached to its cover. It mentions the awardees name and both orders above. The document is numbered ‘A 474225’.

Order of Glory 3rd class #259215:

During a night reconnaissance mission, carrying out a combat order of the command, Sergeant Khamidulin successfully crossed enemy lines under fire, infiltrated the enemy’s rear, and in a close-range firefight eliminated two Germans.

When repelling a German counterattack, comrade Khamidulin, using his machine gun, destroyed 20–30 enemy soldiers and eliminated two German soldiers and one officer in a hand-to-hand skirmish.

 

Order of Glory 3rd class #345254:

Repelling a German counter attack near the settlement Schilling on 21 February 1945, comrade KHAMIDULIN eliminated 14 Germans, suppressed 2 machine-gun firing positions, and took 2 enemy soldiers prisoner. He deserves a state award – order “Glory III class”.

It’s interesting to speculate why Sgt. Khamidulin was awarded two Orders of Glory 3rd class instead of receiving a 2nd class after the first. This likely points to an administrative oversight, as the awards were intended to be given sequentially in ascending order. While such errors did occur during the chaos of wartime bureaucracy, they were relatively rare.
