Translation of the citation for the Order of the Patriotic War 1st Class #93825:

Since arriving in the division in June 1943, Major Chernov has worked tirelessly to improve operational capabilities and the quality of the division’s performance. Within a year, dozens of new radio operators were trained, and the rest improved their qualifications.

He personally shows discipline and organization in his unit, and is himself disciplined and devoted to the Party and the Socialist Motherland.

He skillfully directs the acquisition of intelligence materials. The division performs any assigned radio intelligence tasks excellently and is one of the best divisions in the special service.

For the excellent execution of radio intelligence assignments, Major Chernov is worthy of being awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1st Class.

Translation of the citation for the Order of the Red Star #145577:

As a result of deeply thought-out organization of work on intercepting cipher material from enemy radio networks and in combat training of personnel, he achieved the maximum maneuverable use of the unit’s forces and means for carrying out operational tasks, which made it possible to inform higher command about the enemy in a timely manner.

He is worthy of the government award, the Order of the Red Star.

Translation of the citation for the Medal for Bravery #25580 :

Until September 1941 he worked as a military commissar of a radio station. In the first months of the war, he ensured a rapid reorganization of the radio station’s work, directing all personnel toward carrying out operational radio intelligence tasks.

Since September 1941 he has served as deputy chief of the radio station. He performs his duties well. In his work he is energetic, initiative-driven, and demanding of himself and his subordinates. He has achieved good military discipline in the unit, solid material support of the station, and careful, attentive handling of personnel and equipment.

Throughout the entire wartime period the radio station has carried out the tasks assigned to it well, providing valuable intelligence through radio reconnaissance and monitoring of the press.

In combat situations he conducts himself courageously, setting his subordinates an example of decisiveness and boldness in carrying out any combat assignment.
