Awarded to Major Nikolaj Mikhailovich Mishutov (Николай Михайлович Мишутов)
For repairing 139 aircraft and 195 aviation engines under his direct leadership and for innovations in engineering
Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 47.60 mm in height, 48.70 mm in width and weighs 28.6 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse. This early variation has a round base ‘heel’ of the screw.
In pristine, well above average condition. The details of the raised silver parts like the soldier and lettering are crisp and show minor traces of wear only. The red enamels are stunning without chipping, repairs or noticeable dings and scratches. The reverse of the order is in excellent condition too and both sides show a medium toning to the silver. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with its time period and well fitted silver screwplate.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
In a short time available, comrade MISHUTOV managed to efficiently organise and establish functioning aviation workshop and to find a capable and educated team of workers (production workers, technicians, engineers).
His aviation repair workshop has the best equipment and production facilities among the troops of the 3 Airforce.
During 1942, the workshop under comrade MISHUTOV’s direct leadership repaired 139 aircrafts and 195 aviation engines.
Extensive work was conducted by comrade MISHUTOV in the area of heating devices prepare and skis repairs. Of the heating devices (pipes with and without blowers), there were repaired 3 trains loads. As for the skis, 115 sets for U-2 aircrafts were repaired.
Comrade MISHUTOV organised a local agricultural production, which provides good food supplies for his unit.
Comrade MISHUTOV mastered and prepared for repairs of the following aircraft types: LAGG-3, IL-2, Hurricane. Under comrade MISHUTOV’s leadership, there was performed a successful replacements of a “Merlin XX” engine with a Soviet produced “M-105 RA” engine. The first operational test of a Hurricane aircraft refitted with “M-105 RA” engine showed positive results.
He deserves state award – order “RED STAR”.
