For successfully organizing combat operations of the 35th ground assault regiment and 12th fighter aviation regiment even when under artillery fire and aerial bombardment
Made of solid silver, gold and enamels. The order weighs 25.8 grams without its screwplate and measures 46.23 mm in width and 47.76 mm in height.
In nice condition despite enamel loss on the 9 o’clock ray of the red star. The enamels on the other rays are beautiful without repairs and the white enamels show some contact marks only. Its details are all visible and crisp and the higher laying gold hammer and sickle shows its edges perfectly well. The order comes with a time period and well fitted screwplate and its long screw has not been shortened.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
During the course of the whole Patriotic war, Cpt. GRITSANYUK has been working as the aide to the commander of 8 aviation base. On multiple occasions, he acted independently on the forward field airfields.
In June 19421, he personally organised operations on the airfield “Kerstovo”, where he and his team (120 men) excellently provided for the combat operations of 35 ground assault regiment and 12 fighter aviation regiment. The organisation work took just 1 day, after that, the airfield functioned without any interruptions or delays.

Thanks to his initiative and resourcefulness, he quickly organised operations on the new airfields, which assisted to fast deployment of the aviation fighting units.

During organisation and preparation of the airfield in Vaiņode, comrade GRITSANYUK and his team of 25 men worked bravely under enemy artillery fire and aerial bombardment.

For selfless effort, personal initiative and resourcefulness in providing for combat operation of aviation units, he deserves to be bestowed with order “PATRIOTIC WAR I CLASS”
