Description
Soviet Medal of Ushakov #13283
To Senior Sailor Gennady Ivanovich Orel (Геннадий Иванович Орел)
For personal courage and a fearless attitude fighting the Japanese at the naval raid of the Racine port
Made of solid silver. Measures 35.92 mm in width, 48.55 mm in height and weighs 31.9 grams without its suspension. Featuring admiral Ushakov surrounded by 84 ‘pearls’. The serial number, “13283”, is located on the reverse of the medal.
In excellent condition with light overall wear. There are relatively few dings and scratches on its obverse and the higher laying parts still show their details like Ushakov’s face perfectly visible. It’s reverse shows more dings, most noticeably on the left side but not distracting from the overall appeal of the medal. The ‘spine’ of the anchor is well defined as are the details on the ‘stock’. The silver chain of the ushakov is fully original but has been attached to a new suspension. Its connection ring has not been cut and both sides show a nice toning to the silver.
