Description
Soviet Order of the Red Star #1912163
Awarded to Jr. Lieutenant Ivan Ivanovich Neverov (Иван Иванович Неверов)
For remaining on the battlefield while wounded, personally destroying 3 Fritzes and taking 2 faustniks prisoner
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.43 mm in width, 46.46 mm in height and weighs 31.9 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.
In great, above average condition. The details are mostly visible and even the higher laying parts show light wear only. The enamels are problem free and show some dings and scratches only. There have been no repairs and the order comes with its time period and well fitted screwplate.
The silver medallion portraying the solder appears to be placed on the base off centred. We believe this to be a mint error and not a repair.
Short excerpt and translation of the research:
Platoon Commander Neverov, with his platoon, was at all times on on top of tanks on reconnaissance and in all encounters with the enemy organized the battle well and skillfully. Up to 20 Hitlerites – of which 5 were [panzer]faustsniks – and two machine gun positions were destroyed by his platoon.
In addition, Comrade Neverov, being wounded, did not leave the battlefield and continued to command until the arrival of the main force. Comrade Neverov personally destroyed 3 Fritzes and took 2 faustniks prisoner. He deserves the government award the Order of the Red Star.
