Awarded to Azerbaijan Private Mamed Karakishi-Ogly Piriyev (Мамед Каракиши-Оглы Пириев)
For killing 50 Romanians, destroying 3 machine-gun positions and an antitank gun with his gun crew in Romania
Made of solid silver and lacquer. The medal measures 37.49 mm in diameter, 42.33 mm in height including the eyelet and it weighs 26.7 gram without its suspension.
The medal is in nice, about average condition with most details still visible and a medium dark patina on both sides. Much of the original red lacquer is still present (apx 70%) and its connection ring has not been cut. The double layer steel suspension and old ribbon are original to the medal.

Awarded on June 18, 1944 to Private (later Private First Class) Mamed Karakishi-Ogly Piriyev, gun crew member in the 202nd Artillery Regiment, 50th Rifle Division, 73rd Rifle Corps, 52nd Army, 2nd Ukrainian Front. In the IaÈ™i area (Romania), Piriyev’s gun operated in direct fire mode. Between June 1 and 7, 1944, Piriyev’s gun helped fight off a Romanian attack, during which his gun crew killed 50 Romanians and destroyed 3 machine-gun positions and an antitank gun. Piriyev was born in 1917 and served in the army from January 1940 to November 1945. He was also awarded an OG3.
