Order of Glory 3rd Class #10501
Awarded to private and scout Georgij Pavlovich Veschyugin (Георгий Павлович Вещюгин)
For eliminating 6 Germans, capturing 7 ammunition carriages and reporting intelligence which resulted in a failed enemy counter attack
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 45.79 mm in width, 48.07 mm in height and weighs 24.4 gram without its suspension. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.
This early order of Glory 3rd class is in nice condition with medium wear on the higher laying parts. There are several small dings and scratches but noting destracting from the overall appeal of the medal. The enamels are all present with some minor contact marks only. Its connection ring is cut and its steel suspension time period to the order.
Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:
“Pursuing the retreating enemy near the village Lipovets of the Vinnytsia region on 12 March 1944, comrade VESCHYUGIN together with a group of scouts flanked the enemy force and cut off the main road Lipovets – Vinnytsia. As the result of this, the 6 Germans troops were killed and 7 horse carriages loaded with military ammunition were captured.
Near the village Olesha of the Stanislav region on 19 April 1944, comrade VESCHYUGIN, while under enemy fire, detected an enemy infantry and armour force concentrating for an assault. He promptly reported this intelligence tot the command, which resulted in the failed enemy counter attack.”
