Complete Group of an Order of Glory and a Medal for Bravery
Awarded to Sergeant Vasiliy Klimentievich Motuznyi (Василий Климентьевич Мотузный)
For disarming 34 anti-tank mines; for personally leading his company’s attack, destroying enemy machine-gun crews, and capturing a German battalion headquarters with prisoners in Pat (Hungary); and for his actions in Yugoslavia, where he killed enemy soldiers with captured weapons
This group consist of the following items:
Order of Glory 3rd class #482218
Made of solid silver and enamels. Measures 45.10 mm in width, 47.64 mm in height and weighs 19.3 grams without its suspension. The serial number is located on top of its reverse.
In nice, above average condition with much of the detail of the raised areas visible despite the numerous dings and scratches. The enamels are fully present and well preserved without repairs. The order shows a nice patina to the silver and its connection ring has not been cut. It order comes with its correct double layer steel suspension and old ribbon.
Medal for Bravery #1036048
Made of solid silver and red lacquer. Measures 37.45 mm in diameter, 42.56 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 25.7 grams without its suspension.
The medal is in good overall condition with most details visible but several dings on both sides. Well over half of the original red lacquer is still present and without repairs although some of it is covered by some dirt. Its connection ring has not been cut, and the medal comes with its period-appropriate suspension and an old ribbon.
Medal for Bravery #2149566
Made of solid silver and red lacquer. Measures 37.34 mm in diameter, 42.30 mm in height including its eyelet and weighs 28.3 grams without its suspension.
In similar condition to the previous Medal for Bravery with uncut connection ring and old suspension.
Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements for the Order of Glory 3rd class:
In March 31, 1945 during combats for capturing village Pat (Hungary) Motuznyi by personal example raised 1st rifle company into attack. Breaking to village’s outskirts he destroyed machine-gun crews on house roof and continue advance with combats.
He captured head quarter of German’s battalion, captured 8 soldiers, 3 Unteroffiziers, 2 radiostations, 6 rifles, 3 submachine-guns, 1 heavy machine-gun and 2 waggons.
During reflecting enemy’s counterattacks in region of village Buhovie (Yugoslavia) by fire from trophy submachine-gun killed 3 retreating German soldiers.
For valor and bravery in combat, showed initiative Motuznyi deserves Governmental award order “Glory 3rd Class”.
Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements for the Medal of Bravery:
Motuznyi together with soldier Bondar acting in tank escort group in July 7,1944 discovered 2 enemy’s minefields. Acting boldly and decisively under enemy’s fire he quickly made passageways in them – dismounting 34 anti-tank mines and secured safe and timely moving of tanks. Motuznyi during WWII was 1 time wounded and 1 time shell-shocked and in past combats repeatedly showed bravery and courage.
Please note that Motuznyi received two Medals for Bravery for the same feat by mistake!
