Soviet Voroshilov Marksman badge, NKVD issue
GUPVO (ГУПВО) stamp (Main Directorate of border and Internal Security of the NKVD of the USSR)
This badge is made of silver- and bronze plated steel and enamels. It measures 53.72 mm in height, 46.45 mm in width (at its widest point including the banner) and weighs 13.4 gram without its screwplate. This variation doesn’t show a serial number but a stamp ‘ГУПВО’ instead.
The badge is in a superb, well above average condition with all details crisp. The enamels are very well preserved and show some contact marks and two minor chips to the white enamels on the target board only. Almost all of the silver plating is still present on both sides and even the higher laying parts show light wear only. Its screw has not been shortened and there have been no repairs. The screwplate is time period to the badge and fits well.
Beautiful and rare badge. Next to impossible to upgrade!
