Order of the Red Star #734693

Awarded to Anti-Tank Gunner Novikov Mikhail Fomich (Михаил Фомич Новиков)

For destroying 3 light machine guns, 2 companies of mortars and up to an enemy infantry detachment with his gun during the battle for the city of Borisov in 1944

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 49.49 mm in width, 47.93 mm in height and weighs 31.3 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.

This order is in poor condition with most details on the silver medallion worn off. The enamels however are fully present without repairs and show dings and scratches only. Its reverse is in better condition and shows its details perfectly well. The order comes with a well fitted screwplate of a later period.

A brief, specific statement of personal combat feat or merit:

“Novikov is in the active army since May 1942. In battles with the German occupiers, he showed himself to be a courageous defender of his homeland.

During the battle for the city of Borisov on 06/30/1944, being a gunner, he destroyed 3 light machine guns, 2 companies of mortars and up to an enemy infantry detachment with his gun.

He is worthy of the governmental award of the order of the “Red Star”.”
