Order of the Red Star; Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.91 mm in width; 46.98 mm in height and weighs 28.3 gram. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post. The minimum known serial number is 235999 and the maximum is 594967.
This beautiful order is in great, well above average condition with most details crisp. The red enamel is flawless apart from a small scratch at the 12 o’clock ray of the red star. The higher laying parts on its obverse show light wear and the silver has an appealing medium dark patina. Its screw has not been shortened and the screwplate is time period to the order.
Probably awarded in the spring of 1944. Great research potential!
The Order of the Red Star was given to Red Army and Navy personnel for exceptional service in the cause of the defense of the Soviet Union; in both war and peace. Also awarded for 15 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
