Order of the Red Star #413077

Awarded to Lieutenant  Nikolai Filippovich Demyanovich (Николай Филиппович Демьянович)

For bravery and courage in the opening phase of the battle of Kursk in which he participated directly in destroying up to an infantry company and two heavy machine guns

Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 48.07 mm in width, 46.88 mm in height and weighs 27.3 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.

In decent condition with strong wear and several scratches on the center medallion portraying the solder. Despite the wear to the silver base, all of the enamels are present without repairs and show scratches and contact marks only.  The reverse is in better condition with an appealing dark patina and its serial number and mint mark perfectly visible. Its screwpost is full length and the order comes with its well fitted silver screwplate.

Not in the best condition but with interesting research and without repairs

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“During the repulse of the attacks of the Nazi-German troops from July 5, 1943, during the battles for the villages of Rzhavets and Maslova, he led the correction fire, while showing courage and bravery. Despite strong artillery and mortar fire of the enemy, he ensured the adjustment of fire and the destruction of manpower and equipment of the Germans. With his direct participation, three bunkers were blocked and up to an infantry company, two heavy machine guns were annihilated and the fire of a mortar battery was suppressed.”
