Description
Soviet Order of the Red Star #38167
Awarded to Private (and later Sr. Lieutenant) Andrej Petrovich Bindyuk (Андрей Петрович Биндюк)
For risking his life pulling several soldier from the battlefield and addressing their wounds while being under heavy enemy fire
Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 48.90 mm in width, 47.13 mm in height and weighs 32.0 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse. This early variation has a round base ‘heel’ of the screw.
This original order of the Red Star is in worn condition although most details are still visible. The enamel shows repairs on the 12, 3 and 5 o’clock rays of the star. This has been done a long time ago judging by the craquelure of the enamels. The reverse is in much better condition with an appealing dark toning to the silver and few traces of wear. Its screwpost is full length and the order comes with its time period silver screwplate.
