Awarded to Guards Private Mikhail Ananievich Danilchenko (Михаил Ананьевич Данильченко)
For escaping a German concentration camp (!) in Sevastopol and being wounded 4 times
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.31 mm in width, 46.46 mm in height and weighs 31.3 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.
This original order is in pristine condition with all details crisp and an appealing dark patina to the silver on both sides. The wine red enamels are absolute stunning without any dings, scratches or contact marks. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with its well fitted screwplate.
Its accompanying booklet is in problem free condition with all pages firmly attached to the cover. It mentions this Order of the Red Star alone and is numbered ‘Д 727306’.
Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits
Guards Private DANILCHENKO Mikhail Ananievich took active part in the combat operations of 8 rifle regiment during the period from 28 June till November 1941. Being wounded, he was takes prisoner by the Germans and was placed into a concentration camp in Sevastopol. Later, he escaped from the camp and was again enlisted for the active combat service in the 264 rifle regiment. On 10.10.1943, he was again severely wounded and was treated at a hospital. After recovery, he again participated in the combat in the ranks of 148 rifle regiment. On 28.07.1944, he was severely wounded for the third time and sent to a hospital. After recovery, he was assigned to the 52 rifle regiment and again participated in the combat operations. On 23 March 1945, he sustained his 4th wound, a light wound, and was sent to a reserve regiment to a position of a horse carriage driver. Since demobilization, he has constantly been employed as a deputy team leader of the motor vehicle pool in the settlement Berestovo, Andreevskij district. He has good work evaluation.
CONCLUSION: Comrade DANILCHENKO Mikhail Andreevich was an active Patriotic war participant. Defending the Motherland and while being wounded, he was taken prisoner, but escaped from the camp and again was in active combat duty. He sustained 3 severe and 1 light wounds. He deserves order “RED STAR”.
