Soviet Order of the Red Star #310808 with document

 

Awarded to Sr. Lieutenant Ivan Kuzmich Olshansky (Иван Кузьмич Ольшанский)

 

For personally capturing an enemy soldier and destroying 4 bunkers, 3 machine gun firing points and dozens of enemy soldiers with his battery

 

 

Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.27 mm in width, 46.38 mm in height and weighs 25.4 gram without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.

 

This original order is in excellent, well above average condition. The higher laying parts like the soldier show light wear only and most details are still visible. The enamel is problem free and only shows several small contact marks and dings. The silver screwplate is time period to the order and the screw has not been shortened.

 

The order comes with its award booklet which is in excellent condition with all pages still present. 5 other numbered awards are listed next to this Red Star. Among this an Order of Nevsky, a Red Banner and Orders of the Patriotic War 1 and 2nd class.

 

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits

“On 09/07/1943, the fire of the battery of senior lieutenant Olshansky destroyed two enemy bunkers. On 09/08/1943 it destroyed one bunker and 3 machine gun firing points. On 09/09/1943 it scattered a group of a company, foiled a prepared attack of the enemy and destroyed 15 soldiers; so in 3 days of fighting and due to the actions of comrade Olshansky 50 enemy soldiers were destroyed. On 09/06/1943 comrade Olshansky personally captured an enemy soldier.
