Soviet Order of the Red Star #30161

Федор Александрович Уфимцев

Awarded to Sr. Lt. Fedor Aleksandrovich Ufimtsev (Федор Александрович Уфимцев)

For fighting to the last grenade against advancing German troops in the autumn of 1941. With his battery he destroyed several dozen enemy submachine and artillery observers, two enemy tanks and up to 3 infantry platoons

Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 48.92 mm in width, 46.94 mm in height and weighs 29.6 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse. This early variation has a round base ‘heel’ of the screw.

In a nice, above average condition with medium wear to the silver. Large part of the details are still visible and the enamels are all present without repairs and show some dings and scratches only. The reverse is in superb condition with almost no contact marks and shows an appealing dark toning. Its screwpost is full length and the order comes with its time period and well fitted silver screwplate.

A very early wartime award with interesting research. Scarce as such

Brief, concrete description of his feat of arms or achievements:

“In the battle with the German occupiers from 13th to 14th October 1941, when providing a crossing in the region Gutowski Schosakoda, he showed initiative, courage and bravery. Conducting intensive fire, his battery destroyed several dozen enemy submachine and artillery observers. His battery has destroyed two enemy tanks and up to 3 infantry platoons. Firing to approximately the last shell, comrade Ufimzew did not give his guns to the enemy, took out the redemption locks and so brought them out of action.”
