Description
Order of the Red Star #2119380
Relatively uncommon variation manufactured by the Moscow Platinpribor Factory (MZPP)
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.56 mm in width, 46.83 mm in height and weighs 31.6 grams without its screwplate. The mint mark is located above, and the serial number underneath the screw post.
In excellent condition with light wear to the raised areas like the soldier on the center medallion. The red enamels are well preserved without repairs or flaking and show some small dings only. Its reverse shows an appealing toning to the silver and several small contact marks. Its screw has not been shortened and the order comes with a time period nut which fits well.
Probably awarded in the summer of ’45 so with nice research potential.
The Soviet Order of the Red Star was given to Red Army and Navy personnel for exceptional service in the cause of the defense of the Soviet Union; in both war and peace. Also awarded for 15 years of service prior to the creation of the long service awards.
