Short excerpt and translation of the research:
“The merit of the communications commander lance corporal Loyko is that he was at the observation point of the regimental commander at the time of enemy artillery preparation on 11.01.1945 in the village of Zasol, where he managed to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the communication line during intensive enemy fire, which ensured the regiment to repel enemy tank attacks. At the most tense moment, when German tanks approached the observation post at a distance of 500 meters, the communication lines with the division commanders were broken by artillery fire.
Lance corporal Loiko personally went to the line, eliminated 6 breaks of the communication line under heavy artillery and mortar fire, and thereby made it possible to repel the enemy tank attack.
For personal bravery, initiative and courage, he is worthy of the governmental award of the Order of the RED STAR!”
