Awarded to Sergeant Daniil Ivanovich Chernega (Даниил Иванович Чернега)
For showing exceptional courage and manhood in organizing food for the soldiers in the most difficult and dangerous areas
Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 48.54 mm in width, 46.88 mm in height and weighs 30.2 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse. This early variation has a round base ‘heel’ of the screw.
This original order of the Red Star is in a nice, above average condition. Most details are visible and even the higher laying parts show medium wear. The enamels are problem free and without repairs but show several contact marks and small scrtaches. The reverse is in excellent condition and shows a medium dark patina. The screwpost is full length and the order comes with its time period silver screwplate.

“In battles with the German invaders for х. Призольный and height 163.0 Tov. Chernega showed exceptional courage and manhood. After forcing the river Сев. Донец the enemy opened a hurricane fire. Despite this, Cherchega moved to the right bank of the river with his kitchen in complete safety and provided his battalion with hot food, keeping battalion active for further fighting. During the subsequent battles, the brave cook appeared in the most difficult and dangerous areas, organizing food for the soldiers and the commanders.”
