Awarded to Major (later Lt. Col.) Akim Ivanovich Samokhvalov (Аким Иванович Самохвалов)
For his outstanding capabilities in the defensive operations in August 1942 and in the offensive operation during February-March 1943 which resulted of the uninterrupted supply of required material
Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 48.29 mm in width, 46.59 mm in height and weighs 29.9 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse. This early variation has a round base ‘heel’ of the screw.
In excellent, well above average condition with light overall wear and most details still visible. Its obverse shows relatively few dings and scratches to the silver base. The enamels are without repairs or chipping with some small scratches and contact marks only. The reverse is in great condition as well and shows a light patina. Its screwpost is full length and the order comes with its well fitted silver screwplate.

Recommendation for order “RED STAR” :
Major SAMOKHVALOV Akim Ivanovich is devoted to the cause of the Lenin-Stalin party and the Socialist Motherland. In the whole course of his service at the rear area directorate of 16 army, i.e. since 01 December 1941, he proved himself as an energetic and proactive officer, who is capable to taking independently a decision regarding materiel supplies for the troops.
Especially well, comrade SAMOKHVALOV exhibited his outstanding capabilities in the defensive operations in August 1942 and in the offensive operation during February-March 1943. Thanks to comrade SAMOKHVALOV’s energy and initiative, the army field troops were resupplied with all the required materiel without any delays or interruptions.
I consider Major SAMOKHVALOV to be worthy of be bestowed with order “RED STAR”.
