Awarded to Jr. Lieutenant Sergey Ivanovich Tikhonov (Сергей Иванович Тихонов)
For personally participating and leading the evacuation of combat vehicles out of the sands and mud at the Great Khingan mountain range and Konto-Uhe river crossing (China)
Made of silver and enamels. Measures 48.72 mm in width, 46.54 mm in height and weighs 29.0 grams without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse.
In nice overall condition with a fair amount of detail still visible and and problem free enamels with some contact marks and dings only. There have been no repairs and its screw ishas not been shortened. The order comes with its time period and well fitted screwplate.

Brief and specific description of the personal feat or merits:
During the combat march of our troops over the Great Khingan mountain range and forced crossing of the mountain rivers, he personally participated and led the evacuation effort and pulling of our combat vehicles out of the sands and mud. During forced crossing of the river Konto-Uhe, the caterpillar tracks of his platoon pulled out 5 combat vehicles stuck in the river bed. In this operation, he personally spent 10 hours in the water. His selfless effort and efficient organisational skills provided for repairing and returning to operations 2 combat vehicles and thus fulfilling the combat objective. During the combat march, his platoon had no delays due to mechanical malfunctions or road incidents.
Jr. Lieutenant TIKHONOV deserves a state award order “RED STAR”.
