Soviet Order of the Red Star #128793

Емельян Иванович Белокопытов

To Lieutenant Emelyan Ivanovich Belokopytov (Емельян Иванович Белокопытов)

Most likely awarded for breaking through the Leningrad Siege, possibly fighting the Spanish ‘Blue Division’

Made of silver and enamels. The order measures 48.18 mm in width, 46.29 mm in height and weighs 28.9 gram without its screwplate. The serial number is located at the 6 o’clock position and the mint mark on the 12 o’clock position of its reverse. This early variation has a round base ‘heel’ of the screw.

This original order of the Red Star is in a nice, above average condition. Most details are visible and the higher laying parts show medium wear. The enamels are problem free and without repairs with some small contact marks and only. The reverse is in excellent condition and shows an attractive medium patina. The screwpost is full length and the order comes with its time period silver screwplate.

An early award in excellent condition. Scarce as such!

Unfortunately no citation of this awardee was not found online. However, we do know this Order of the Red Star was awarded to Lt. Belokopytov by the temporary award certificate which mentions the serial number (see picture galley for a scan).

We also know he was engineer-sapper company commander on the Leningrad front and was awarded the order on 27.02.1943 by decree # 0156/n of the 55th Army, Leningrad front. The combat path confirms his whereabouts at that point of time (see picture galley for a screenshot). During the period mentioned, the 55th Army fought the Spanish ‘Blue Division’ at the Siege of Leningrad.
